Keep a shared timeline

Use a factual chronology and label estimates. Record who has been contacted, when, what was requested and any reference number.

Ask each organisation about its role

A bank, police service, lawyer, exchange and investigator have different powers and responsibilities. Ask what each can do, what material it needs and what timescales apply.

Share information deliberately

Confirm who will receive a document and how it will be protected. Use secure channels provided by the relevant professional or institution.

If you have just transferred money, contact your bank or payment provider through its official channel as soon as possible. No recovery outcome can be guaranteed.
