Contact the provider promptly

Use the number on your card or the provider’s official website. Explain that you believe you have been defrauded and ask whether the payment can be stopped, recalled or flagged. Keep the time, name or reference for the conversation.

Secure accounts and preserve records

Change passwords from a trusted device if account access may be exposed. Save statements, transaction references, messages, email headers and website addresses. Do not delete conversations or alter original files.

Be cautious of follow-up contact

A second caller may claim to be a recovery agent, investigator or official. Verify any organisation independently and do not pay an unexpected fee to release funds.

If you have just transferred money, contact your bank or payment provider through its official channel as soon as possible. No recovery outcome can be guaranteed.
